Wall / ceiling lamp BLADE OPEN
A series of luminaires from Escale, where the luminaires can be transformed into individual light objects with the help of a connection set. BLADE consists of a metal body surrounded by an LED light band, creating a light aura. In the variant BLADE OPEN shown here, a 2nd LED light band is hidden behind the opening in the metal plate, which further increases the appearance and luminosity compared to the standard BLADE light from the same company.
The BLADE-OPEN series is available in 3 sizes and 8 finishes. Upon request, the luminaire can be equipped with a CASAMBI or ZigBee radio receiver, which allows the luminaire to be controlled via radio or voice command with Alexa / Amazon. The distance to the wall or ceiling can be adjusted in steps on the front panel, so that overlapping is easily possible with several luminaires. In the variant with RGB color control, the desired light color of the inner ring is set via CASAMBI app, whereby the outer ring is always equipped with a white LED band. I.e. a color setting is only possible in the inner ring, whereby the inner and outer ring can be dimmed.

When planning BLADE, the question often arises as to how many luminaires in which shapes/diameters are needed for the best possible room illumination. Based on the following table, we provide you with a non-binding planning aid in this regard. The perception of light & brightness is always individual; therefore, please consider our information as a recommendation only (Our recommendation is based on the following spatial conditions: Room height 2.50 m, wall and ceiling white, floor wood, with existing table with 80 cm height: 150 Lux).

- What is luminous flux?
The luminous flux Φ - measured in lumens (lm) - is the light output of a light source. It describes the power emitted by the light source in all directions in the visible range. To get a rough idea of what this value means, here are a few comparisons:

- What does color temperature mean?
Roughly speaking, the color temperature indicates how warm or cold especially white light is. The oneness is Kelvin (K). The lower the Kelvin value, the warmer the light gets. The light of a commercial light bulb here would correspond to about 2700K, a candle has about 1500K. The higher the Kelvin value becomes, the colder the blue becomes the light. Daylight is compared with about 7000K. A rough classification of the light color is:
- 2,700 to 3,250 Kelvin: warm white
- 3,250 to 5,250 Kelvin: neutral white
- 5,250 to 8,000 Kelvin: daylight white
- What does the color rendering index called RA or CRI?
The color rendering index indicates the degree of correspondence of the seen body color with its appearance under the respective reference light source. The smaller the deviation, the better the color rendering property. A light source with RA = 100 reproduces all colors very well. The lower the RA value, the less well the colors are rendered. In bathrooms and dressing rooms with mirrors, we generally recommend the use of luminaires and light sources with a high RA value of at least 90.

Casambi
If your focus is on pure lighting control, then Casambi offers the optimal solution. The free Casambi app is simple and intuitive. The communication between your Smart Media device and your lights is via Bluetooth. Regardless of the app, you can use a normal wall switch and built-in Casambi module dimming your lamp.
The smart Casambi technology also offers you the opportunity to design individual light scenes or to switch your lights via a timer at specific times. ZigBee
If it's not just about lighting control, Smart Home has a very good solution based on the ZigBee wireless standard.
