NUUNU

With the new nuunu floor lamp, designer Flavia Thumshirn, who has been part of Ingo Maurer's design team for more than 20 years, brings the feeling of a sunny fall walk wherever the lamp is placed.
The inspiration for the nuunu was a walk by the lake in the autumn evening sun. A large tree caught golden light in yellow leaves, with blue water reflecting the scenery below. The designer translated this mood into her new luminaire. Three recessed glass spheres lie on a square base made of blued steel and are illuminated from below. In the center of the base plate, assigned to the three spheres at a defined distance, are three stainless steel rods almost two meters high, at the end of which gold-plated paper is attached to the rod by means of a holder. The gold leaf coating gives the paper, which is approx. 20 cm in diameter, the appearance of autumn leaves on a branch.
Flavia Thumshirn uses a trick from earlier shoemakers to allow the light to shine directly into the leaves. They needed particularly good light for the precise work on their shoes and therefore used glass bodies filled with water, which they placed in front of candles. By refraction, they focused the light simultaneously on the spot where work was to be done. The nuunu glass globes are made of high-quality crystal glass without inclusions and are therefore particularly suitable for this type of lighting.

But the lamp is also a real highlight when switched off. With its delicate, elegant appearance, it is not immediately recognizable as a lamp at first glance. It is much more reminiscent of a sculpture, a design object. The tranquillity it radiates makes it versatile. Whether in your own living room, a hotel lobby or even in waiting rooms: Wherever nuunu is placed, it is never just a lamp, but always an accessory. Thanks to the gold leaf coating, the leaves reflect the ambient light. In combination with the tall, thin rods, which create small movements, the lamp is reminiscent of reeds in the wind.
When switched on, the lamp creates a beautiful play of shadows on the ceiling that varies with the brightness setting. The nuunu has a "dim to warm" function, i.e. the LEDs become warmer by dimming the brightness.
However, the lamp never produces a cold white light due to the reflections on the golden leaves.
